A Pair of Detentions Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

The assault caused the temporary closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people have been arrested in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

These detentions come after a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was among the those hurt in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and were later released.

Police detained a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault near the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Police were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of several people hurt by an irritating chemical believed to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as an act of terror - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
